Description:
This is footage of Dame Ninette de Valois conducting a class at the Royal Ballet School, I guess some time in 1959.

You can see that she is observed in this by HRH Princess Margaret, the ballet critic and writer, Arnold Haskell, and by Sir Frederick Ashton.

The Princess has just opened new dance studios at the Royal Ballet School premises in Hammersmith.

This film begins with HRH Princess Margaret arriving at Royal Ballet School premises. The princess is greeted by de Valois and then proceeds to open new studios at the school by the tried and true method of ribbon cutting.

When the class begins, de Valois's determination, shall we say, as a teacher seems almost suggested by the use of an instructive cane.

Men-boys are seeing being taught and then women-girls, including Svetlana Beriosova (black leotard), Nadia Nerina and Anette Page.

The Princess chats with Svetlana Beriosova and Nardia Nerina, and then Annette Page.

The film ends with a ballerina (Merle Park?) and male dancer practising duet.
